The second of Art in August's 2024 "meet the artist" receptions takes place on Thursday, August 15 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Winchester architecture and interior design studios of Leslie Saul and Associates, 611 Main Street. The public is invited to meet artist Jui-Lan "Juily" Su. Juily spent more than 30 years in biomedical research after earning a Masters degree in Entomology. She started out acrylic painting in representational style. Now her artwork includes mixed media, modern and abstract in styles.
Jui-Lan’s love of gardening, museum-going and blind contour drawing are the bases for many of her paintings: paintings on flowers and gardens were inspired by her own garden. Jui-Lan’s recent mixed media “The hanging garden” was inspired by Suzanne Jackson’s “In Nature’s Way” at the Whitney Biennial 2024.
