Artists: Join us for Art in August 2022

Give Your Art Some Public Exposure!

For 20 years, Winchester celebrated a unique summer festival that transformed our beautiful, uniquely walkable downtown into a vibrant artist colony. The years of COVID sadly put a hold on the festival, but in 2022 we are ready to once again celebrate the arts and showcase our local artists and businesses.

During the entire month of August artwork is displayed in many shop windows while fluttering pink, yellow, and orange streamers announce, “Art Here; come in there’s more to see.”  Thursday evenings are enlivened by “meet the artists” receptions and other events such as scavenger hunts.

Would You Like to Participate?

Participation is open to all artists who live, work, or make art in Winchester.  The Art in August Committee will pair participating artists with downtown businesses to display their artwork for the month. Artists need not be present to participate, but do need to be able to deliver their art and discuss placement with the committee. We work hard to match artists with businesses, so unless you have a year-round arrangement with a particular merchant your location will be at the discretion of the committee.

Together with the artwork, artists supply a brief biography which can include contact information and a website (with QR code) for additional opportunities to connect with interested members of the public.

Mini Receptions will be held on Thursday evenings for exhibiting artists that request one on their commitment form. These will provide the public an opportunity to meet the artists and for the artists to display and sell additional works. Receptions will be limited in number and available on a "first come-first served" basis. Artists are expected to provide food and drink at the receptions.

For more information contact us at info@winchesterculturalcouncil.org.

To sign up, just submit the artist commitment form. Thanks to support from the town of Winchester, no payment is required for Art in August 2022.

Deadline for registration is July 1, 2022.
