Wedgemere Video Kiosk

At the Wedgemere MBTA station, the Winchester Cultural Council has placed a video monitor in the window of the former coffee shop with announcements and information about Winchester. This is a low-cost pilot project that might lead to similar kiosks elsewhere.

The Cultural Council welcomes submissions of slides to include in the display. Slides can be general information about an organization or activity or an announcement of an upcoming event—no advocacy or editorial content, please. Material should be of general public interest and non-commercial in nature, though there is no restriction on submissions from for-profit businesses.

Slides should be image files (such as PNG or JPEG) with a 16:9 aspect ratio, and fairly high resolution (1125×2000 pixels should be adequate). We suggest the following design guidelines:

  • Because bright sunlight can obscure the top of te monitor, the most important material should be placed in the lower half of the display
  • To catch the eye of passers-by, the design should be simple, with a maximum of 2 pictures
  • Use dramatic contrasting colors
