Artistic field description
Oil, Acrylic and Watercolor Painting

I'm inspired by naturally expressive drawing filled with pure color. My goal is to imbue the paintings with a sense of joy, surprises, and playfulness. I'm usually not making a statement or reaching for anything very intense. I'm simply saying, "This is a wonderful, amazing planet and I'd like to share how I see it."

Most of the work is painted with oil, a few with acrylic and watercolor and they're painted from life and/or imagination.

Artistic field description
Painting in watercolor, oil and other media.

I paint in watercolor, oil and other media. My paintings are of landscapes and vegetables, sometimes in combination.

Throughout my life, I have sought mixes of art and the natural world. At Antioch College, I studied art, biology and geology. While pursuing an MS in entomology, I illustrated scientific manuscripts, and co-produced a video on Insects in the Arts. During and following my Ph.D. in environmental toxicology, my creative efforts focused on fiber arts: sweaters, rugs and table linens.
