On Town Day, June 6, the Winchester Artists Network (WAN) will open a member exhibition at Town Hall. Art will be displayed in the beautiful Winchester Room, located off the main entrance next to the Town Clerk’s Office.
There are 15 talented artists participating in this show, featuring 30 diverse pieces of art in a range of mediums: acrylics, oils, pastels, collage, watercolors, stained glass, textiles, cyanotype and mixed media. The exhibition will include a member reception where visitors can meet many of the artists and learn more about their work. The exhibition will stay up through June 11.
WAN traditionally exhibits at the Winchester Library each May, but this year extensive construction at the library made that impossible. Winchester Cultural Council (and WAN) members Trish Gannon and Mary Hummon, with the support of Town Manager Chris Senior and Town Clerk MaryEllen Marshall, saw this as an opportunity to showcase the Winchester Room, which historically has hosted many cultural events but has lately become more of a hidden treasure. The room itself is worth a visit!
Founded in 1999, WAN promotes the increased presence of art in the Winchester community and works to establish connections among local artists, educators and businesses. Membership is open without charge to all who live or work in Winchester.
